Anger management and the Middle East

For years the standard response, at least on the part of this writer, to the occasional idiocies that punctuate the activities of the anti-Israel mob, has been the “more in sorrow than anger” mode. That certainly has been the preferred response to the infamous Goldstone report on Cast Lead, his retraction of parts of the report and so many other indecent attacks on the Jewish state.

How else can one respond to reports chronicling the antics of the recent flotilla affair (and its ‘Canadian’ contingent), which seeks to uphold Hamas, the rulers of a terrorist state; the fly-in at Ben Gurion airport by an international coterie of pro-Palestinian inciters; the Holocaust-denying statement by the Egyptian leader of a secular political party, and the Tunisian ‘Arab Spring’ revolutionaries who rhapsodize about their new liberties, while dumping on Israel? And how about the Tahrir disciples in the land of the Pharaohs some of whom interpret the legacy of January’s ‘freedom’ demonstrations as a mandate to blow up the gas pipelines to Israel and to call for the rescinding of the Egyptian-Israel peace treaties? How sorrowful it is to think that the labours of Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin might be torn asunder by the machinations of the Muslim Brotherhood. Sorrow also comes to mind in recording the assistance given by Syrian President Bashir Assad (how many Syrian civilians has he killed to date?) to the Nakba and Nakse demonstrators who sought to infiltrate Israel’s northern border just weeks ago. The same sentiment is aroused by Mahmoud Abbas’s Op-Ed piece in the New York Times recently where he mendaciously rewrote the history of the 1948 War of Independence and successfully persuaded what was once America’s prestige newspaper, to publish his screed. The problem is that in Jewish tradition and in the legal mores of the West anger is not sanctioned as a response to incitement, provocation and injury. Judaic wisdom teaches that an individual is known by his kiso, koso and kaso, words which may be charitably translated as generosity, sobriety and the quality of one’s anger-management. Mind you, the Hebrew version, with its repetitive initial consonant, sounds much better.

An Anger Management Blunder-Breast Milk Assault

I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally comment on this.  The Deleware, Ohio school teacher who drunkenly sprayed police officers with her own breast milk has been fined and put on probation and sentanced to anger management classes . Just when you thought assault could only happen with a weapon a new twist occurs.  Yes, even being sprayed with breast milk can land you in a heap of legal problems.
