Here is Part 1 of my pre-season top 2012 Louisiana High School football prospects in no particular order. There are quite a few legitimate prospects in this group that are attracting attention from colleges all over the US as well as the southern football powerhouses. This state has an extraordinary amount of very good linebackers and defensive ends. Again, this list, and Part 2, are in no particular order so please, no comments about who is listed first, second, or thirty-ninth.
a href=”http://www.hsfootballweb.com/?attachment_id=2340″ rel=”attachment wp-att-2340″> 1. Dwayne Thomas, 6′ 1″ 175 pounds, Cornerback from O. Perry Walker High School. Shutdown type of cornerback who makes the big plays. Verbally committed to LSU.
2. Ryan Brown, 6′ 5″ 245 pounds, Defensive End from Shaw High School. Has grown considerably in size since the 2010 season where he had 51 tackles, 9 for losses, and 4 sacks. Long arms and a frame conducive for putting on more weight, Brown has the makings to be a good college football player. Verbally committed to Mississippi State. See his highlight video, Here!
5. Derrick Raymond, 6′ 1″ 175 pounds, Safety from East Jefferson High School. A transfer who was ineligible to play last season but is receiving tons of interest from the major colleges. He is the current state track champion in the 100 and 200 meters…look for this kid to explode on the high school football scene this year. Verbally committed to LSU.
6. Daniel Megison, 6′ 3″ 220 pounds, Linebacker/Tight End from The Dunham School. A powerful force in the middle. Looks like a prototype middle linebacker. See his highlight video, Here!
9. Terrell Lathan, 6′ 4″ 255 pounds, Defensive End from West Monroe High School. A very agressive player who can make it big on the next level. Very athletic with nice size for a college defensive end and good football instincts.
10. Juwan Rogers, 6′ 0″ 230 pounds, Outside Linebacker from Amite High School. Excellent linebacker and a very good running back also. He’s the type of kid who could probably play anywhere you need him to, and be good at it.
11. Gerron Borne, 6′ 3″ 275 pounds, Defensive Tackle from East St. John High School. A big, tough kid who moves very well for his size.
